Barcelona new star Robert Lewandowski believes he can help bring the club back to the top of European football and has admitted signing for them was an easy decision. The 33-year-old thrived for eight years at Bayern Munich, scoring 348 goals for the club.
With just one year left on his contract, reports said that Robert Lewandowski really wanted to leave Bayern Munich. This was later confirmed by the Polish striker and he admitted he wants to leave the German giants for Barcelona. However, as the two clubs struggled to reach an agreement, many thought Lewandowski wouldn’t leave but the situation changed when Barcelona paid €50m.
The 33-year-old has signed a three-year deal with the club and many Barcelona fans are happy with the move, especially given Lewandowski’s credentials. They are not the only ones as Lewandowski admitted he believes he can “help put the team back on top of European soccer”. Not only that, the Poland international added that the moment he realized Barcelona were in contention, it was an easy decision for him to sign for them.
“It was very easy to decide to come to Barca. Barca are back. I think I can help put the team back at the top of European football. I was talking with Xavi and from the start I know [what’s been on his] mind, ideas. It was easy for me to decide to come to Barcelona because I’m the guy who wants to play, who wants to win, and I think with Xavi it’s very possible,” Lewandowski said, ESPN reported.
“He knows exactly how to coach Barcelona because he was an incredible player and now he’s also a very good coach. He has an incredible future and I want to be part of it too.”
