‘I hope this will launch his career at Manchester United’ – Jadon Sancho scores his first goal since September as he and Marcus Rashford seal the fightback against Leeds
Jadon Sancho came off the bench to score his first Manchester United goal for four months to help seal a fightback against Leeds.
The 22-year-old has spent many weeks away from the United squad this season undergoing individual training.
Erik ten Hag says the winger is not ‘physically or mentally’ ready to play for the team during his absence.
Earlier in the month, Sancho played for the first time since October when he returned in United’s 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup.
He then made a huge impact off the bench for visiting Leeds as the Red Devils came from two goals down to seal a point.
Sancho was replaced by Wout Weghorst in the 59th minute and passed Illan Meslier to make it 2-2 shortly after.
Former Leeds defender Micky Gray told talkSPORT: “Don’t take anything away from Sancho, he’s looked really sharp since he came on the pitch.
“The ball actually falls very nicely to his feet in that 18-yard area, he just has to shoot but Meslier, you have to question the goalkeeper.

“When the ball passes, yes, he might see it late, but I think it’s a save that the keeper has to make, really. There’s not enough pace to get past the keeper. He has to save it.
He added: “Don’t take anything away from Sancho, he’s been through a horrible time, really. Trained on his own, he’s been trying to get his form back, and hopefully that will kick-start his career at United.
Leeds led 2-0 thanks to Wilfried Gnonto’s first-minute strike and Raphael Varane’s own goal early in the second half.
However, United found their way back into the game through Marcus Rashford, who netted his 20th goal of the season.
Sancho then equalized for the hosts, with both sides settling for a full-time point.
Leeds are now two places above the relegation zone, while United miss the chance to level the points with Manchester City.
