I don’t feel any disappointment for missing T20Is, comments Shikhar Dhawan

Shikhar Dhawan said he wasn’t too worried about not being considered for selection in the T20Is and that it might not be the time to play the shorter format. Dhawan further added that he is currently in a very good space with his performance and is doing his best with the stick.

Since the conclusion of the T20 World Cup last year, India have been experimenting with their batting order. One of the most experienced positions was the opening slot and various partners opened up with Rohit Sharma for the Indian team. Eight different batters have been tried at the open position by India in the last 22 T20Is for India. However, Shikhar Dhawan was overlooked in the T20Is despite consistently performing in the IPL.

Reflecting on his exclusion in the shorter format, Dhawan said he wasn’t disappointed.

“To be honest. I don’t feel any disappointment as such. I feel there is a time for everything, and maybe it’s not my time. Maybe I’m missing something I haven’t been able to do too well. No worries, I tried my best and that’s what matters. Until the moment I’m happy and content, that’s all I care about. It’s not like my name doesn’t come up, I’ll be affected or something. I’m in a really good space; I’m doing my best,” Dhawan told Sports Tak.

BCCI will announce the team for Asian Cup soon and Dhawan hopes for selection in the tournament.
