I am ‘disappointed’ that Israel is ‘sitting on the sidelines’ against Ukraine

Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA) said Thursday on MSNBC’s “Andrea Mitchell Reports” that he was “disappointed” that Israel was “sitting on the sidelines” of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Warner said: “The whole world has been touched by the courage of President Zelensky and the courage of the Ukrainian people. And you hear it in his voice, and I hear intelligence reports these days, it’s no longer about how long the Ukrainians can put off the inevitable, the Russian forces overcome them, but there’s a real feeling and we are seeing that in individual battles could push back the Russians. So I think NATO needs to do more in terms of more weapons.

He continued, “I say this as a friend of two nations. I’m a longtime supporter of Israel, co-chair of the India caucus. I’m disappointed that countries like Israel and India, two great democracies, sit on the sidelines and don’t intervene.

Warner added: “It’s a choice between good and evil, and all democracies need to step up. Let’s increase the penalties and get them more guns. Let’s make sure we do everything we can to disable any possibility of evading sanctions. »
