Hunter Biden responds to price critics of his art: “Other than f ** k ’em?”

Hunter Biden is sweeping away those who criticized the prices of his paintings.

He was invited for the first time Thursday to respond publicly to criticism, on the podcast “Nota Bene: This Week in the Art World”.

“You seem to have a good mood around the crazy story around your paintings. How do you do – what’s the response from the people who come after the prices of the work, the collectors, what’s your response to that? Hunter Biden was questioned.

“Other than fuck them?” he has answered.

The president’s son, 51, said he was not involved in pricing his early days in art. The gallery selling the art previously told CBS News that the pieces were between $ 75,000 and $ 500,000.

Biden said he recognizes that art prices are “completely subjective.”

“Look man, I never set my prices – what my art was going to cost, what it would cost or how much it would be charged,” Biden said.

“Just because the first time you jump into it – just the idea that someone is drawn to your art, let alone paying something for it. You know it 1000 times better than I’ll ever know, you know, but a —I know well enough that the value of an artist’s work is not necessarily determined by the price but the price is completely subjective—[inaudible]- and sometimes it has nothing to do with other than, you know, the timing. ”

Biden cited the banana stuck to a Miami wall as an example of this subjective artistic moment.

He also briefly noted the White House-backed agreement between the artist and his gallery to keep the identity secret of public painting buyers.

“I have everything, you know, an arrangement where I’ll never know who’s going to buy and all that stuff,” Biden said before being shied away from the topic by the podcast hosts.

Some government ethics experts have expressed concern that buyers may purchase Hunter Biden’s art to gain influence with his father, President Joe Biden. Keeping buyers anonymous is meant to guard against this.

Hunter Biden, however, has two art exhibitions scheduled for later this year. A small private business in Los Angeles and a larger exposure in New York will give him the opportunity to interact with potential buyers.

Asked earlier this month about Biden’s participation in the shows, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said: “[Biden]will not have any conversation related to the sale of artwork. This will be left to the gallery owner as stated in the deal we announced just a few weeks ago. “

“We believe this is a reasonable system that has been established that allows Hunter Biden to work within his profession under appropriate safeguards, so he will not discuss anything related to the selling her art, ”she added.

On the podcast, Biden said the first art show was held at the end of September when he “invited his friends and family.”

He also spoke of the “courage” to share his art publicly, including in front of “the entire audience of Fox News, OAN and Newsmax”.

“I think I am the most famous artist in the MAGA world,” he said.
