Hundreds of Haitian and Cuban migrants detained after landing on or near Florida coast, US official says

In a dramatic incident, more than 330 migrants from Haiti have been rescued after the sailboat they were on ran aground near the Florida Keys on Saturday afternoon.
The US Coast Guard tweeted photos and a video that show the boat packed with people, many wearing orange life jackets. Some had jumped off the boat and been rescued from the water. Those still on the boat were transferred to Coast Guard vessels, according to the tweet.

CBP also obtained custody of 150 Cuban migrants who made landfall, Adam Hoffner, CBP’s deputy chief patrol officer, told CNN.

CBP was still processing Haitian and Cuban migrants on Sunday, according to Hoffner.
