Hundreds gather to pay tribute to Red Cross community heroes saving lives

CHICAGO (SCS) — For the past 20 years, the Red Cross has shined a light on those who go above and beyond through acts of bravery. Paying tribute to their countless hours of dedication and service.

Hundreds of people gathered Wednesday morning at the Hilton Chicago to honor 12 special people in our community.

CBS 2’s Irika Sargent and Brad Edwards served as emcees. And many tears were shed when their heroic stories were revealed.

Like Lewis Medina, who did not hesitate to lend a hand when he saw a car stuck on the tracks. He is this year’s rescue hero.

12 heroes are honored for doing extraordinary things in our community every day.
