Tatis went to the Padres lodge for observation. At 12:51 p.m. ET, the club announced that they have subluxed their shoulder and will be reassessed on Tuesday.

Here’s everything we know about Tatis’ injury and the latest news on when he could return to the pitch.

What is Fernando Tatis Jr.’s injury?

Tatis appeared to injure his left shoulder while swinging on a pitch on April 5. He left the field, trying to keep his arm still. According to the team, he suffered a shoulder subluxation, which essentially means his humerus partially came out of his shoulder joint.

Tatis injured his left shoulder (without a pitch) at the end of spring training during a routine play on the field. It is not known if the injuries are related.

MLB.com noted amid March’s shoulder issue that Tatis, 22, had previously experienced shoulder pain as a professional. But he has yet to be put on the injured list for a shoulder injury. He was on the Padres IL in 2019 with hamstring strain and a low back stress reaction.

How long will Fernando Tatis Jr. be out?

A lot of people ask this question, but there is no answer at the moment. It will be reassessed on Tuesday, but the general deadline for a subluxation is a few weeks; however, it could be longer depending on the amount of damage to the surrounding ligaments, tendons, or rotator cuff.
