House Republicans prepare to launch Biden White House investigations

Lisa Desjardins:
All right, let’s roll up our sleeves. There is a lot to say here.
When you think of the investigations that House Republicans are launching, I think of them in three very big baskets. Let’s take a look at the committees that will particularly play a key role here.
First, there is a new select committee on China. Importantly, this has broad bipartisan support. It focuses on China and the Communist Party there, the economy and also human rights among the things they examine.
Different are the other two committees that you see here right next to me, the House Oversight Committee. These committees are reviewing the Biden administration, as you mentioned. Look at this list. These are all the different things already announced by this House oversight committee, the things they will be looking at, the classified documents, the influence of the Biden family. This includes Hunter Biden and also Joe Biden’s brothers, if they have relationships outside of this country that have been problematic.
The pandemic, there is a subcommittee there. The border, energy, drug prices, and also Afghanistan in general and the withdrawal there. Expect a lot of news to come out of this committee, certainly a lot of hearings. Then there is a second, the House Judiciary Committee. It’s run by Jim Jordan, the Republican from Ohio.
They will also look into classified documents, but especially the role of different agencies, including the Ministry of Justice. Border security will be one of their first hearings next week. And here’s a special subcommittee that we’re going to pay attention to, the militarization subcommittee.
I think it will put a lot of emphasis on the Justice Department and the FBI and, in fact, the investigation of the investigators, but not only. There will be a review of how government agencies prey on Americans, Republicans say.
This is all just a start. We don’t know exactly what form they will take. But the theme here is, for these two big committees, to look at the Biden administration and the Biden family.
