An ice hockey star was horribly injured during a match between Nottingham and Sheffield as fans were asked to leave the stadium due to a “major medical emergency”.
Adam Johnson reportedly wore an ice hockey blade to his neck during the match between Nottingham Panthers and Sheffield Steelers at Utilita Arena Sheffield this evening.
Around 8,000 fans are believed to have witnessed the collision before the match was quickly stopped and screens were installed on the pitch to protect the players involved.
Paramedics were also on scene before a Panthers player was taken to hospital by ambulance.
