Homeland Security Secretary Mayorkas has to go and our visit to Yuma and San Diego proves it

Republican members of the House Oversight and Reform Committee were again on the southern border to assess the unfolding crisis.

Driving on a county road last week along the Arizona-Mexico border after 10 p.m., we ran over a group of 50 illegal migrants at Morelos Dam near the town of Yuma, Arizona.

We then took the dirt road a few minutes away to another hole in the wall and found another group of about 60 illegal migrants from Uzbekistan and Cuba.

MIGRANT ENCOUNTERS IN MARCH SURPASSED 221,000, THE HIGHEST NUMBER SINCE BIDEN TAKEN IN CHARGE

This is Joe Biden’s open border.

All day and all night, people from over 100 different countries illegally cross our southern border.

What one group witnessed on April 11 was actually in Yuma.

From Arizona, we moved to California.

In San Diego, we were told that immigration authorities apprehend approximately 500 illegal aliens every day. And that does not include Ukrainian entrants who do not claim refugee status.

Here’s one more thing we learned during our visit to San Diego. Currently, thousands of Ukrainians fly from Europe to Cancun or Mexico City. They then head to Tijuana, Mexico, just south of San Diego. Officials believe there are more than 3,000 Ukrainians waiting there to enter the United States. San Diego is capable of processing about 800 a day. It seems the cartels are leaving Ukrainian migrants alone.

In El Centro, California, area officials ban approximately 300 illegal aliens daily. Many people who enter this area illegally try to avoid capture. They are the ones who smuggle drugs, terrorists and violent criminals and otherwise exploit human misery.

In a border town in the El Centro sector, Calexico, you can see the most polluted river in the country. It is so contaminated that Border Patrol agents only enter it if they need to save the life of an illegal alien.

Environmentalists don’t seem to care about this dangerous waterway, or for that matter, the environmentally destructive waste left behind by millions of illegal cross-border commuters.

Our congressional tour has once again brought home the need to change our border policies.

The Biden administration, including Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, wants to make good changes, but not good ones.

Mayorkas focused on the need for Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers to use politically correct pronouns, announced March 31.

He insisted that the framers of the U.S. Constitution had modern leftist and social justice sensibilities like “fairness”. Which is not true. And, Mayorkas cracked down on the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) enforcement function.

None of the changes Mayorkas wants to implement are substantial, nor will they help secure the border.

But, the biggest brainchild of Biden’s “Open-the-Border team” is to remove the latest tool that allowed CBP to deny hundreds of thousands of them entry into the United States: title 42.

Title 42 authorizes the immediate denial of entry based on a communicable disease emergency. In this case, it’s COVID. As Biden seeks to expand mask-wearing on planes, he and his incompetent Centers for Disease Control (CDC) director Rochelle Walensky are giving the green light to millions of illegal border crossings.

It is difficult to conceive of a more self-immolating policy change.

At the same time, the Biden administration continues to thumb its nose at the court that ordered Mayorkas to reinstate the policy that requires asylum seekers to stay in Mexico pending the outcome of their asylum claims. This is called the Migrant Protection Protocol or MPP.

Under former President Trump, it took about 90 minutes to process an MPP candidate. Under Mayorkas and Biden, due to additional administrative requirements, it takes about eight hours. It’s a sneaky way to claim respect for the tribunal’s mandate while preventing the reimplementation of the program.

Mayorkas has to go. Even some Democrats like Arizona Sen. Kyrsten Sinema agree that Title 42 should stay in effect. The court must hold Biden, Mayorkas and others in contempt for violating the MPP’s re-enforcement order.

And that’s just to start.

Because Yuma agents were overwhelmed by the flood of illegal border crossings, each of the groups we encountered during our week-long visit was guarded by a single Border Patrol agent.

We came across both groups around 10pm. Most of the other officers were already dealing with other illegal aliens and couldn’t help. There would be no help, no reinforcements and no one to transport these groups to the treatment center for more than two hours.

It’s obvious that Biden is more interested in the new “Gender-X” statement on a US passport, than in securing our border and protecting Americans.
