Hillary beat Trump by 3 million votes, Biden beat him by 7 million – GOP, a ‘shrinking minority party’

Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) said Thursday on CNN’s “Anderson Cooper 360” that the Republican Party was a “declining minority party.”

Raskin said, “I’m fundamentally optimistic about the history of American democracy, that we’ve always moved toward a more perfect union. There have been setbacks, there have been reactions, there has been resistance, but overall we are moving forward.

He continued, “This is going to sound partisan, but in partisan terms, look, Hillary beat Trump by over three million votes. Joe Biden beat him by more than seven and a half million votes, and young people are increasingly on our side. The GOP is a declining minority party, which is why they cling to every undemocratic lever of power at their disposal, the gerrymandering of congressional and state legislative districts, the filibuster, the clogging of the courts – all of these things cover up the fact that the vast majority of people reject what they have to offer.

Raskin added, “So we’re in a titanic struggle here because it’s a race between the vast majority of the American people who want democracy to keep moving forward, and then a party that has positioned itself outside of the constitutional order that attacks our elections, passes voter suppression laws, and tries to negate majority rule in the country.
