Heather Rae El Moussa discusses the ups and downs she experienced learning to co-parent with her husband Tarek El Moussa’s ex-wife, Christina Hall.

In a preview of her interview with ‘The New Rules’ on ‘Today,’ Heather Rae revealed that it was a struggle to get into a relationship with someone who had just gotten out of a significant long-term relationship, especially since he had children.

“I felt like I was always second, and no one ever made me feel that way, but I think when your partner had such a long relationship with the previous spouse and a lot of love, and it It was a very public divorce,” Heather Rae explained. “You get there and fall in love with each other, but you still think about the ex.”

When Heather Rae and Tarek met in 2019, Tarek already had two children with his ex-wife and “Flip or Flop” co-star. Tarek and Hall share a daughter, Taylor, 9, and a son, Brayden, 4.

“We definitely had ups and downs, and they had ups and downs, and I think she realized how much I love kids, and they’re No. 1 for me on everything,” explained Heather Rae. “So all drama aside, kids are the most important thing to all of us.”

“All of a sudden I’m jumping into a mum role, a wife role, I’m taking on his big family. I’ve always said that to my husband, my career is also very important to me, and I think that it helped me not to lose. I take care of myself, I get a massage, I do my nails, but I’m also a very good mom.”

As she works hard to maintain her sense of self, Heather Rae said she still feels ‘mum guilt’ from time to time, explaining that although she is a ‘hands-on’ mum, she is not unable to drop or pick them. from school because she has to film or is working on other things. However, she learned to let go.

“Sometimes I feel guilty about it,” she said. “So I’m like, ‘Why?’ Because they’re happy, they’re healthy, they love me. I love them and I give them the time I have. And I put them first. So why do I feel guilty?”

Heather Rae has been Taylor and Brayden’s stepmom since marrying Tarek in 2021, and she’s set to become mom to her first child, announcing she’ll be having a baby boy on Instagram in July 2022. She often posts photos of his family on Instagram.

Before announcing that she and Tarek were expecting, Heather Rae opened up about her fertility issues, revealing that doctors told her when she was in her twenties that she had a low egg count. This news devastated her, leading her to freeze her eggs in 2019. She told E News that she had no thoughts of using these eggs until she met Tarek.

“Seeing Tarek with his kids really made me want to have a baby with him, because he’s such an amazing father to them,” she told the outlet. “And, you know, I love watching them grow before my eyes. … I started thinking, ‘God, if I have so much love for them, how can I not have my own baby? ‘”

In a separate Instagram post in October, Heather Rae gushed about her stepchildren, saying she couldn’t wait for them to meet their new baby brother.
