Hearing scheduled for Huntsville man arrested in Nashville in connection with murder case
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – A preliminary hearing has been set for a man charged with murder in Madison County.
Antonio DeWayne Palmer, 38, was arrested in Nashville in March following a homicide investigation in Huntsville. Palmer was extradited from Tennessee and incarcerated in the Madison County Jail around 1:30 p.m. on April 5.
The preliminary hearing is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. May 18 at the Madison County Courthouse.
Chief Prosecutor Tim Douthit says he expects many facts of the case to come to light in open court. The prosecution will present its case to the judge during the hearing, Douthit said, while presenting an overview of the evidence gathered in order to establish probable cause.
Huntsville police say a missing person call came in early in the morning of March 25. When officers attended the 4100 block of Newson Road responding to the call, they found a body in that area.
Madison County Coroner Dr. Tyler Berryhill identified the victim as Charles Allen, 72, of Huntsville. Berryhill said at the time the cause of death was undetermined.
sergeant. Rosalind White of Huntsville Police said at the time that investigators believed Allen was the missing person and a homicide investigation had begun.
Palmer remains in the custody of the Madison County Jail. No bond has been set.
