Manchester United hero Nani has picked his dream 5-man squad which includes Cristiano Ronaldo and a number of Red Devils legends.
The veteran winger who currently plays for A-League team Melbourne Victory, was interviewed on his former teammate Rio Ferdinand’s podcast presents FIVE.
The former Portugal international was asked to select his dream five-man squad and he gave a very ‘united’ response:
“I would put Paul Scholes, Deco, let me go for a defender, Rio, very technical, Cristiano and Rooney, this guy is amazing, he doesn’t look (smart) but he is very smart.”
Former Red Devils midfielder Scholes has been lauded throughout his career at Old Trafford for his passing ability and attack in the middle of the park.
Manchester United are crying out for a midfielder like Scholes who can get on the ball and get things done.
He made 714 appearances for United, scoring 153 goals and contributing 75 assists.
Meanwhile, Deco has become a Portuguese legend plying his trade at Barcelona, Chelsea and FC Porto.
He has won two Champions League titles, two La Liga titles, the Premier League and Primeira Liga three times in his career, among other accolades.
Ferdinand was a Manchester United mainstay at the back, forging a formidable partnership with Nemanja Vidic over the years.
The former England captain made 455 appearances for the Red Devils and scored the last goal of the Sir Alex Ferguson era.
It’s no surprise that Nani chose Cristiano Ronaldo considering he played alongside him for club and country.
Ronaldo continues to roll back the years, having scored an impressive 24 goals in his debut season at the club following a £13.5million transfer last summer from Juventus.
A five-time Ballon d’Or and five-time UEFA Champions League winner, the Portuguese icon is often dubbed the greatest of all time.
Finally, Rooney became a Premier League legend for iconic performances and moments in United colours.
Nothing more than his spellbinding kick scored against long distance rivals Manchester City after Nani’s assist.
He was inducted into the Premier League Hall of Fame this year, having won five league titles.
Nani defends Cristiano Ronaldo in uncertain future for Manchester United
Cristiano Ronaldo’s future at Old Trafford is still in doubt following reports he has asked to leave.
There has been speculation about the player and his current mood, but Nani defended his obvious frustrations saying:
“It’s been a long time since we played together and Cristiano is no longer a child. Times change and reactions and attitude can change too. But, as you can see, he does the same things as usual; he doesn’t like to lose, he reacts when the team is not doing well.”
