HBO teases The Last of Us TV show ahead of its 2023 premiere

Along with the sometimes glitchy premiere of Dragon HouseHBO showed off a trailer of content its new owner hasn’t abruptly shelved that provided the first moving look of Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey playing Joel and Ellie, respectively, in its upcoming The last of us TV show.

Neil Druckmann — the screenwriter and creative director of both The last of us games – is an executive producer of the show, and tweeted“You haven’t seen anything yet.”

Other preview content is from The Idol, Love and Death, Succession, White Lotus, And Just Like That, Hacks, White House Plumbers, Our Flag Means Death, but the live-action TV debut of Naughty Dog’s PlayStation franchise is what interests us the most. In the twenty seconds or so that it actually shows, you can catch a glimpse of the Neal Offerman character and a scene that seemed reminiscent of the first game’s opening sequence with Joel’s daughter.

The preview confirms February comments from HBO Chief Content Officer Casey Bloys that we can expect to see the show in 2023, but didn’t offer a narrower window than that.
