UFC flyweight fighter Jeff Molina has been shocked to receive a significant amount of hate after announcing his latest fight kit will feature Gay Pride colors.
Molina earned a split decision victory over Zhalgas Zhumagulov at UFC Vegas 56 last weekend, but it was her outfit choice that dominated much of her fight week.
‘El Jefe’ chose to customize his fight kit to help raise money for the Southern Nevada LGBTQIA+ hub, with 100% of proceeds from sales of the UFC Pride Month t-shirt going to the charity association.
A slew of hate messages followed Molina’s post on social media about repainting Pride’s colors, something that amazed and angered the 25-year-old fighter.
“Man, that’s f****** ridiculous. Who gives a fuck, mate. Honestly, it’s not even about being an ally. I’m not saying I’m not, but it’s just like, just be a decent fucking person. Just be a decent human being,” Molina told reporters after his UFC Vegas 56 win.
“To judge someone, and then try to justify them with religion, and say all kinds of mean, hateful bullshit, that’s crazy to me, it’s mind-boggling.
“It’s like, it doesn’t matter who someone wants to be with, their sexual preference, and then the irony of trying to justify it with religion – something that’s supposed to be so tolerant. Honestly, I’ve been shocked.
Molina insists he chose the colors mainly because they looked good, although he was always up for supporting a good cause and didn’t expect any backlash for supporting the gay community.

“I chose the colors because I thought it was cool, and then it supports a good cause. I will support any type of community that has been downtrodden and ostracized for something they can’t help. I will support all of that” , did he declare.
“I just thought in 2022 people would be a bit more open-minded and not shit, but I guess I was wrong. It’s just crazy to me. People were saying crazy bullshit.
Molina has emerged as one of MMA’s brightest prospects despite losing two of his first three fights in the sport.
The American has since bounced back to claim 10 straight wins since then, with the last three coming under the UFC banner.
After UFC Vegas 56, British prospect Muhammad Mokaev took to social media to suggest he and Molina face off later this year.
“Jeff Molina, stay healthy, I want to fight you in France (September) or Abu Dhabi (October), I will beat you up,” he wrote.
