Haryana beats Himachal Pradesh to win 2023 Women’s Senior National Kabaddi Championship

In the previous nine women’s national kabaddi tournaments, Haryana has placed second five times.

Priyanka, who also helped India win a gold medal at the 2019 South Asian Games in Nepal, was the captain of the Haryana women’s kabaddi team.

In Mahendragarh, Jharkhand and Rajasthan each won bronze, while Himachal Pradesh had to settle for silver.

Both sides played tightly throughout the league, with Himachal Pradesh leading by one point at the break. Yet early in the second half, Haryana forced the first all-out and gathered momentum, eventually winning Kabaddi’s 69th Senior Women’s National Championship by seven points.

Both Haryana and Himachal Pradesh won in the semi-finals, but in very different ways. Haryana beat Rajasthan 34-33, while Himachal Pradesh beat Jharkhand 49-20. Haryana edged Rajasthan 34-33.

In senior national kabaddi championships, Haryana, Jharkhand and Odisha were in Group C. They beat Odisha to qualify for the round of 16 but they fell short against Jharkhand.

Haryana beat Tamil Nadu 46-17 in the round of 16 before beating Indian Railways 38-23 in the quarter-finals.
