Harvey Elliott’s horrific ankle injury is a ‘massive blow’ for Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp as the youngster begins to ‘find his feet’ in a red shirt

Harvey Elliott could have taken it to ‘another level’ had it not been for his devastating ankle injury, talkSPORT has been said.

The 18-year-old suffered a moment of horror in Liverpool’s 3-0 win over Leeds United and he is expected to be out for several months.

It was a blow to the youngster who had started the previous two games before the game against Leeds.

Speaking to talkSPORT Breakfast, former Liverpool winger Jermaine Pennant said: “A big blow for Jurgen, you know he’s started every game this season and you don’t start if you’re not a great player and he showed it.

“The worst part was he was just going to improve, this is his third game, he was finding his marks, he didn’t really want to overdo it and be expressive enough and how he could have taken it to another level once he gets comfortable.

“It’s such a sad injury, bad timing and really bad luck for the boy.”

What made matters worse was that it was minutes, if not seconds, to be replaced by Jordan Henderson.

It is undoubtedly a blow to the youngster, but considering his age, such an injury will only make him stronger.

Now he needs to rebuild himself from the ground up and hope he can continue to show the promise that saw him in Jurgen Klopp’s starting XI.

Even after suffering such a blow, the youngster remains in a good mood and took advantage of social media to show his support for Leeds defender Pascal Strujk.

The 22-year-old will have to serve the three-game suspension after the club’s appeal to overturn the decision was dismissed.

“Sorry about this Pascal.” He said on Instagram. “I think it’s wrong! But it’ll explode soon brother and you’ll be back in no time smashing it again. Stay positive. “
