Harvey Elliott has already won the hearts of Liverpool fans this week, but his latest comments may well win him the freedom of the city.
The 18-year-old recently underwent successful surgery for a brutal ankle dislocation in the Reds’ 3-0 win at Leeds on Sunday.
From giving his shirt to a fan in the hospital and watching the final moments of the game on his phone from his bed, to defending Pascal Struijk’s red card tackle – the Englishman reacted brilliantly to the setback.
But it’s his response to a Manchester United fan on social media that could prove to be the most popular among Reds loyalists.
Commenting on a TikTok support video from a Liverpool fan, a Red Devils fan wrote: “It doesn’t work like that anymore.
And seeing the comment, Elliott replied: “It’s crazy how I have more legs than United have trophies in the past eight years.”
He didn’t stop there either.
United fans were quick to highlight their totally unforgettable Community Shield triumphs in 2016.
Responding to this on Instagram, Elliott said, “I’m not worried about Brother McDonald’s trophy anyway.”
He then added: “6 Champions Leagues. “
Even the United fan who initially tried to poke fun at Elliott couldn’t deny a clear victory for the talented teenager.
He replied, “Haha, fair enough. You are a ball player.
