“Harry Potter” and “Star Wars” actor Warwick Davis’ wife, Samantha, has died at the age of 53.
Warwick announced the tragic news in a statement to the BBC, revealing that his wife, who he called his “favorite person”, had died on March 24. He did not reveal the cause of death.
“His passing has left a huge void in our family lives,” the 54-year-old actor told the outlet. “I miss his hugs.”
Warwick, who played Filius Flitwick in the “Harry Potter” films, added that his late wife was his “most trusted confidante and a strong supporter of everything I did in my career.”
“She was a unique character, always seeing the bright side of life, she had a wicked sense of humor and was always laughing at my bad jokes,” he said, adding that having his wife to his side was his “super power”.
The couple has been married for over 30 years and welcomed three children together, one of whom died nine days after birth.
Samantha co-founded the dwarfism charity Little People UK alongside her husband, which they launched in 2012.
Warwick said his wife’s health had fallen on hard times in recent years, with her mobility becoming impaired.
Samantha fell ill with sepsis during a family holiday in 2019, which saw her come close to death, Warwick added.
The actor said he and their children “kind of said goodbye” to her at the time, but she managed to pull through and recover.
The couple met on the set of George Lucas’ film “Willow” and married three years later, in 1991.
Samantha, an actress in her own right, played a goblin in “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2.” Her husband also played the role of the goblin Griphook in all eight films in the franchise.
The couple’s children Annabelle, 27, and son Harrison, 21, also paid tribute to their late mother.
“His love and happiness carried us through our lives,” they told the outlet. “Mom is our best friend and we are honored to have received a love like hers.”
Harrison also appeared as a goblin in “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2.”
Annabelle, for her part, starred in the British soap opera “Hollyoaks” until her departure from the series in January.
