Harry Maguire does not train in England ahead of Euro 2020 opener against Croatia but Bukayo Saka returns

Harry Maguire was the only player absent from England training on Wednesday as fears grew over the Manchester United defender’s participation in the upcoming European Championship.

Gareth Southgate’s men kick off Group D against their 2018 World Cup semi-final opponents Croatia at Wembley on Sunday.

Maguire is undoubtedly one of England’s most important players

The United Maguire skipper is expected to miss this game with an ankle ligament injury suffered at Aston Villa last month.

The 28-year-old is continuing his rehabilitation and continued to work in the gym on Wednesday as the other 25 members of the Euro 2020 squad trained at St George’s Park.

In better news, Bukayo Saka was part of the squad after missing Sunday’s friendly against Romania with a hip problem.

The Arsenal youngster scored his first England goal in a man of the match game against Austria last week.

Jordan Henderson has also been training while continuing to develop his fitness level, having undergone groin surgery in February.
