Harry Kane: Spurs forward says ‘conscience is clear’ despite wanting Man City transfer | Football news

Harry Kane insists his reputation at Tottenham remains strong despite pressure to move to Manchester City during the transfer window.

Kane looked set to make it to the Etihad Stadium for a record price earlier in the summer, returning to preseason training late amid rumors of a move.

With speculation about his future, the England captain then posted on Twitter last week pledging to Spurs for the foreseeable future.

When asked if he’s worried the transfer saga has tarnished his reputation, Kane told talkSPORT: “No, I don’t think so. I think anyone involved in the football industry is familiar with the ins and outs.

“I was pretty calm with the situation, but when you’re in it and you know the truth, then your conscience is clear.

Paul Gilmour reports from Tottenham as they sign Brazilian right-back Emerson Royal from Barcelona

“My whole career, I’ve had ups and downs from my youth until where I am, that’s part of it all.

“I know there was a lot of noise around me but I was pretty calm. I knew what the situation was between me and the club and that’s how it’s going to stay.

“A lot of people who know me will say that I am a professional athlete who has dedicated my life to this game and that is what I will continue to do.

“I’m going to look to the future now, the goal has always been to make money with Tottenham and that is the goal every year.”
