Harry Redknapp has backed Harry Kane to compete with Cristiano Ronaldo and Romelu Lukaku for the Golden Shoe, but only if he plays in the middle.
The Tottenham striker has yet to score in the Premier League this season after a hectic summer.
He told Spurs he wanted to leave but a move to Man City never materialized as Daniel Levy refused to budge on his £ 150million prize.
Kane scored on Wednesday night as the north London club beat Wolves on penalties in the Carabao Cup.
The forward has played the full 90 minutes as he seeks to regain the same form that saw him win the Premier League Golden Boot last season.
Reports claimed Kane was still unstable after his failed transfer from City affected the start of his campaign.
But, joining talkSPORT Breakfast, former Spurs manager Redknapp insisted he is more determined than ever to try and succeed at Spurs and will challenge early pointers Cristiano Ronaldo, Mohamed Salah and Romelu Lukaku for the gong. of the top scorer.
“He wants to play all the time,” Redknapp said.
“From Tottenham’s point of view, they want to win a trophy. They’re not going to win a Premier League and can watch this competition and the FA Cup and think that’s something they can win.
“Harry wants to play all the time now. He’s one of those guys and just might end up being the top scorer, as long as they don’t replay him on the left wing.
“He’ll be there in the mix. “
Kane was oddly played on the left against Chelsea in Spurs’ 3-0 loss on Sunday, a move by manager Nuno Espirito Santo that left a lot of people scratching their heads.
Redknapp added, “I thought it was weird. Son is playing there and Harry is playing in the middle. Very, very strange.
“For the first 20 minutes, they were in the game. In the second half, Chelsea completely passed them. Chelsea looks strong.
