Hamstrings keep Jared Waerea-Hargreaves off Kiwi side to face Kangaroos

New Zealand will be without intimidating prop Jared Waerea-Hargreaves for their World Cup semi-final against Australia.

The Sydney Roosters striker has played just one game in this tournament, with suspensions forcing him out of their first two group matches and their quarter-final win over Fiji. Waerea-Hargreaves has also suffered from a hamstring injury and will not feature against the Kangaroos at Elland Road on Friday (AEDT Saturday).

New Zealand have beaten Australia just once in their last five meetings and manager Michael Maguire will also be without all-round utility Marata Niukore for the first trans-Tasman game since 2019.

But Maguire has good news with the return of striker Moses Leota, who is suffering from a pectoral injury and has only appeared on this tour once.
