GUNTERSVILLE, Ala (WHNT) — Guntersville came together last week to dedicate a new high school.
On Wednesday, faculty, staff, city leaders and several students from the school system attended the groundbreaking ceremony for a new Guntersville High School.
Guntersville City School (GCS) said the groundbreaking is the culmination of a vision that began more than 15 years ago. The system said leaders who worked on initial concepts for a new school at the time also showed their commitment to seeing it through.
GCS said the project will be of both immediate and future benefit to Guntersville because, when completed, it will give students the opportunity to learn in a school comprised of 21st century classrooms, state-of-the-art facilities world-class arts and a state-of-the-art STEM wing.
The system said the building will also feature facilities for a wide variety of career technology courses, including business, health and medical sciences, and family and consumer sciences.
The new school will also include a cafeteria with outdoor and indoor seating options to suit school and community events and many other spaces to enrich the student experience.
GCS said the facility will be completed with the implementation of security measures and efforts to increase safety in the design of the school itself.
