Gunman injures 4, commits suicide at Ohio Walmart, police say

A gunman opened fire Monday night at a Walmart in southwest Ohio, wounding four people and then apparently killing himself, police said.

The man “entered the Beavercreek Walmart around 8:35 p.m. Monday and began shooting a gun,” police said in a statement posted on social media.

The shooter died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, and no officers responded with their weapons, police said in the release.

The identity of the suspect was not immediately released. The condition of the four injured is not known, police said.

“We don’t have a motive yet, any information on what he might have been thinking, or anything else,” Beavercreek Police Capt. Scott Molnar told reporters at the scene. “We’re still thinking about it. The investigation is only in its early stages. »

The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation, the FBI and the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives were on scene to assist, Molnar said.

Walmart said it’s sorry. “The situation remains evolving and we are working closely with investigators on site,” a spokesperson said.

Beavercreek is a town of about 46,000 east of Dayton.
