Gunman in Florida supermarket made online threats before shooting, police say

The man who shot dead a woman and her 1 year old grandson Thursday at a supermarket in Florida had made repeated threats online, according to the sheriff.

“There was a chance it could be stopped,” Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw said Friday. “You know why? The reason is he’s on Facebook. He said, I want to kill people and kids. Do you think some goddamn soul told us about that?

Surveillance cameras captured the entire incident, which lasted less than four minutes, police said.

Just before noon Thursday, the grandmother parked the cart containing her young grandson as she looked at items when 55-year-old shooter Timothy Wall arrived.

“He pulls out his gun and walks from one aisle to the other, where the child was parked in his cart,” said Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office Major Talal Masri.

He shot the child and then turned to the grandmother.

“The grandmother instinctively jumps and tries to stop him. She struggles with him, his gun hangs, he was able to control her and push her to the ground. He shoots her down while she is on the ground,” said Masri said.

Wall then shot himself in the head. He did not know the victims. Police said he filed for bankruptcy earlier this year and his ex-wife told them he recently started acting strangely.
