GTA VI: Bonnie and Clyde, Female Protagonist, Miami, Release 2024

Grand Theft Auto VI, the next entry in Rockstar’s hit open-world franchise, is reportedly the first to let you play as a female character in its story mode. This is according to a new report from Bloombergwhich has just published a long article on the game’s development. The report also includes new details about the game’s release, which sources say should be at least two years from now.

Rockstar has reportedly made efforts to overhaul its internal culture since the release of its last major title, 2018 Red Dead Redemption 2, was marred by reports of poor working conditions at the studio. According Bloombergthe company’s morale has improved considerably since then and the development of GTA VI is managed in such a way as to minimize the difficulties encountered by employees during the development of previous titles.

Although GTA VI will feature the series’ first female protagonist, she is unlikely to be the only playable character in the single-player portion of the game. Bloomberg reports that GTA VI will have two protagonists influenced by Bonnie and Clyde. The female half of the pair would be Latina.

The report also includes new details about the setting for the game, which will apparently be a fictionalized version of Miami, a location reminiscent of the setting Rockstar used for 2002. GTA Vice City. Plans for the game’s setting appear to have been scaled back during the game’s development given that they originally consisted of large parts of North and South America. But despite the focus on a single location, new missions and even towns could be added to the game over time, Bloomberg note, using a development structure that the company hopes will reduce the need for development crisis.

Rockstar Games declined to comment. Bloomberg’s report. The studio has officially confirmed that it is working on a sequel to GTA V in February but has not announced any details about its release date, setting or protagonist.

Grand Theft Auto VI took a long time to come. The last mainline entry in the series was first released nearly nine years ago in September 2013, and development of the sequel took so long that the series completely ignored the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One console generation. (although an updated version of GTA V was published for both). The reason for the unusual time between entries in the series is believed to be the massive success of GTA onlinethe multiplayer and microtransaction-filled portion of GTA V which Rockstar has continually updated since the game’s original release.

Despite more details on GTA VI emerging, the game still appears to be years away from release. Bloomberg reports that the studio is slated to release the title in Take-Two’s 2024 fiscal year, which ends in March 2024. But the developers interviewed suggest that a release date could be even further away and won’t tell you. don’t expect it to be available to the public for at least another two years.
