A five-second clip of a man hanging a baseball over children’s heads at a Washington Nationals game sparks heated debate on Twitter.
the clip, originally shared by @GinaHilliard33 on Thursdayshows a little girl raising her glove to signal a souvenir baseball of Nationals right fielder Joey Meneses.
“Grown man steals baseball from little girl,” the user wrote, asking the outfielder to sign a baseball for his daughter, who is presumably in the video.
A baseball flies over and heads for the young fan when a man in a Nationals jersey for former Nationals player Juan Soto rushes for a major theft.
The clip resurfaced on Tuesday following a tweet from baseball media brand JomBoy Media.
“This is it. Worst ever,” the brand wrote.
The clip’s reappearance comes a week after a fan, who allegedly stole home runs from younger fans, infuriated viewers when he knocked a ball out of a teenager’s glove during a Royals game in Kansas City.
Twitter users quickly sparked a debate over who deserved to grab the keepsake balloon, with one user saying the girl had been “beaten at her own game”. trying to reach in front of another child.
Others punched the adult and called the move “embarrassing” given the value of the ball.
Twitter users who claimed to be at the game came to the man’s defense and alleged the children in the video I have tons of souvenir bullets during the game.
A user also said the man gave the ball to someone who appeared to be his own little girl after the video.
The Nationals decided to skip the heated discussion and responded to the user who posted the clip last week.
