Northern Ireland ensured Nations League survival despite losing 2-1 to Greece after Kosovo did them a favor by beating Cyprus 5-1.
Ian Baraclough’s side fell behind Hull striker on loan Dimitrios Pelkas’ goal after goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell made a mistake in claiming the ball but bounced back quickly when Shayne Lavery sent the perfect cross from Steven Davis.
Georgios Masouras restored Greece’s lead after a stray pass from Davis, before Petros Mantalos’ deflected effort from 25 yards off Peacock-Farrell off the wrong foot and ensured the group winners finished in style.
Northern Ireland finish third in Group C2, level on five points with Cyprus, ahead only on goal difference. Greece, meanwhile, finished with 15 points, six clear of second-placed Kosovo.
