Grandfather shot while his 2-year-old grandson was at home has been targeted in North Houston, police say

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) – A grandfather is in critical condition after being shot twice during a Thursday night home invasion in north Houston.

Detectives say the man’s 2-year-old grandson was also inside when intruders broke into Carby’s home near Foxridge.

A father was shot in the head and his son was forced to take a shower during a violent home invasion, according to the HPD

Houston police say four men kicked the front door, shot the grandfather in the head and shoulder, then grabbed a safe and fled.

Officials say the intruders brought a hammer to the scene, but just kicked the door open.

The victim’s wife returned home 30 minutes later to find her husband injured. The child was not injured.

The grandfather was taken to Ben Taub Hospital in critical condition.

At this time, police believe the man was targeted because the safe contained a large amount of cash.

ABC13’s Charly Edsitty obtained surveillance video of the home invasion showing the intruders who are still at large.
