Governor’s Drive temporary lane closure expected to last for months

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — Landscaping and road improvements are expected to impede traffic on Governor’s Drive west of Memorial Parkway for the next three months, city officials say.
Weather permitting, the City of Huntsville said one lane on Governor’s Drive, adjacent to the median, from the parkway to Clinton Avenue will be “temporarily closed” beginning Jan. 30.
The temporary closure is expected to last approximately three months.
City officials said the planned work would take place between 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. daily. Two lanes of Governor’s Drive “will always remain open,” according to the city.
Traffic control devices will be placed to help maneuver through the area, although drivers are encouraged to slow down and exercise extreme caution in the area.
