The Narendra Modi government on Thursday extended the validity of motor vehicle documents such as driver’s license (DL), registration certificate (RC) and licenses until October 31, given the COVID pandemic- 19 in progress.
In an opinion, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) said the extension had been granted to documents relating to the Motor Vehicle Act 1988 and the Central Motor Vehicle Rules 1989.
Among the documents are driving licenses, registration certificates, certificates of fitness and all kinds of permits.
The extension only affects documents whose validity has expired since February 1, 2020, or would expire by October 30, 2021, and the MoRTH has advised enforcement authorities to treat these documents as valid until October 31, 2020. October 2021.
“He was informed that the validity of the aptitude, of the license (all types), of the driving license, of the registration or of any other document concerned whose extension of validity could not be, or not was not likely to be, granted due to lockdown and which had expired since February 1, 2020, or would expire before September 30, 2021, the same can be considered valid until September 30, 2021. Authorities have been advised responsible for processing these documents valid until September 30, 2021, “said the ministry.
The ministry’s opinion stated that all states and Union territories are urged to implement this opinion in letter and spirit so that citizens, carriers and various other organizations, which operate in this difficult time , are not harassed and faced with difficulties.
It had previously issued opinions dated March 30, 2020, June 9, 2020, August 24, 2020, December 27, 2020, March 26, 2021 and June 17, 2021, in connection with the extension of validity of documents related to the automobile. Vehicle Act, 1988, and Central Motor Vehicle Rules, 1989.
