GOP Rep. Salazar and House 6 Republicans unveil amnesty plan for illegals

Rep. Maria Salazar (R-FL), along with six House Republicans, introduced an amnesty plan for illegal aliens amid the biggest wave of illegal immigration in American history.

On Tuesday, Salazar released his legislation called “The Dignity Act” that would make the country’s 11 million to 22 million illegal aliens eligible for green cards — and possibly naturalized Americans — as long as they adhere to a 15-year process.

“It’s amazing how out of step Rep. Maria Salazar is with the Republican Party, and certainly with the Republican base,” Rosemary Jenks of NumbersUSA told Breitbart News. “We are in the midst of a historic border wave, and his response is to offer the largest amnesty in history.”

The House Republicans co-sponsoring the amnesty are:

  • Dan Newhouse (R-WA)
  • John Curtis (R-UT)
  • Pete Sessions (R-TX)
  • Jennifer Gonzalez-Colon (R-PR)
  • Tom Reed (R-NY)
  • Peter Meijer (R-MI)

Last month, in an exclusive interview with Breitbart News, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) promised not to consider amnesty plans for illegal aliens if Republicans resume the House in this year’s midterm elections.

The amnesty violates that pledge — indicating that, assuming McCarthy is president and sticks to his word, the proposal doesn’t stand a chance in a GOP-led House headed by McCarthy in the next Congress.

“We know first and foremost that one of our greatest strengths is the rule of law, so you have to have an immigration system based on the rule of law,” he said.

Specifically, the amnesty would grant legal permanent resident status to an estimated 1.5 to 3.5 million illegal aliens registered and eligible for the former president’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. Barack Obama.

All other illegal aliens would be eligible for 10-year work visas as long as they pass a criminal background check and pay a $10,000 fine. Foreigners in an irregular situation would not be able to benefit from any social assistance under the 10-year programme.

Then, after holding work visas for 10 years, undocumented aliens would be eligible to complete a five-year program to obtain green cards and naturalized US citizenship. Requirements for this side of the amnesty include taking civics classes in the United States, paying higher fines, and performing community service.

“This is an unserious proposition by unserious people,” Jenks said.

Salazar’s amnesty also includes provisions requiring nationwide E-Verify to ensure employers don’t hire illegal aliens for US jobs, as well as bolstering the US Border Patrol with 3,000 new agents and the resumption of the construction of the border wall.

Salazar’s donors include big agricultural companies like Grimmway Farms and huge investment and asset management companies. Many have an interest in increasing immigration levels to swell the labor force, add as many consumers to the market as possible, and raise real estate prices.

In the whole of 2021, more than two million cross-border commuters and illegal aliens arrived at the southern border. More than 530,000 of those arrivals were released inside the United States, while nearly 45,000 were boarded on domestic commercial flights and transported into the country, often free of charge.
