Senators Marco Rubio (R-FL) and Rick Scott (R-FL), along with the Republican delegation from Florida, call for answers from President Joe Biden’s administration after saying about 70 flights full of border workers have landed in their state.
The issue came to light in Florida after a 24-year-old illegal alien allegedly impersonated an Unaccompanied Alien Child (UAC) at the US-Mexico border in order to be released inside the United States. From there, the illegal alien was airlifted to Florida and is now charged with the murder of the man who took him in, a father of four.
Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) said he was examining a plan that would deny state contracts to companies contracting with the Biden administration to route border crossings to the state.
In a letter to Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and Attorney General Merrick Garland, Rubio, Scott and the Florida Republican delegation to Congress ask the administration to disclose how many cross-border flights have landed in Florida, the number of border workers on board and their immigration status.
We write with great concern about the reported transfer of migrants from our southern border to or through the state of Florida. Media accounts show that at least 70 flights from border states have landed at airports in Florida, with no information on the passengers and their final destination.. This does not include ground transportation. [Emphasis added]
The crisis at our southern border has been well documented. However, the transfer of illegal immigrants to our communities has taken place under cover of night and with a veil of secrecy. Our fellow citizens are naturally concerned about potentially dangerous people living in their neighborhood. The state, local law enforcement and those elected to represent Floridians deserve to know what the federal government is doing, especially when it comes to public safety. [Emphasis added]
For these reasons, We ask for a full account of the administration’s actions on these charter flights and ground transportation, including who is being transported, their immigration status, whether they have been tested for COVID-19 or have presented proof of vaccination, final destinations and any applicable security reviews performed. The information should also include the date of the first transport, the number of migrants transported to date, as well as planned or estimated future trips, if state, county or local government entities have been alerted prior to arrival and all federal resources provided to assist with the migrants and any follow-up action, including whether a notice of summons has been issued. [Emphasis added]
Those who signed the letter with Rubio and Scott are Representatives Vern Buchanan (R-FL), Mario Díaz-Balart (R-FL), John Rutherford (R-FL), Neal Dunn (R-FL), Carlos Gimenez ( R-FL), Brian Mast (R-FL), Daniel Webster (R-FL), Michael Waltz (R-FL), Maria Elvira Salazar (R-FL), Gregory Steube (R-FL), Byron Donalds (R – FL) and Gus M. Bilirakis (R-FL).
As Breitbart News recently reported, a number of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) are working with the Biden administration to provide border workers with free hotel rooms and free flights to the United States, giving them the option to bypass TSA requirements that US citizens are required. to follow.
Last week, Mayorkas said the administration expects more than two million illegal aliens to have arrived at the US-Mexico border in 2021 by the end of the year.
Mayorkas did not disclose the number of illegal aliens who successfully entered the United States through the southern border. Current estimates based on DHS data show that between 530,000 and 600,000 illegal aliens were released inside the United States by the Biden administration from January to September.
