Google Pixel 8a leaks again in new images showing large bezels

Google’s upcoming Pixel 8a has been leaking like crazy lately. Most recently, we published a datasheet a few days ago, shortly after another one. Last week, Google itself may have even shown us the Pixel 8a in an ad for its US carrier.

Today, some new images of the phone have leaked, showing both the back and the front of the colorway that will undoubtedly be called Obsidian (since that’s what Google likes to call black these days).

The rear photo is pretty much what you’d expect: there’s the camera “visor” running from one side of the frame to the other, housing two sensors and an array of circular LED flashes, a minimal G brand and not much else.

On the front, however, the screen edges are really the stars of the show, as they seem quite large – especially the chin – for this price. Again, Google will probably get away with it since most people will praise the quality of its software and camera. And compared to the Pixel 7a that this model will replace, the bezels aren’t that bad – it’s just that some of the Pixel 8a’s competitors in Europe and Asia have much smaller ones.

Speaking of comparison with its predecessor, the corners are decidedly more rounded this time around. Besides the Obsidian color shown here, the Pixel 8a should also be available in Porcelain (white) and Bay (blue). It is expected to be powered by Google’s Tensor G3 chipset and will feature a 6.1-inch 120Hz OLED display, 128/256GB of storage, a 64MP main camera with OIS, a 13 MP ultra-wide, a 13 MP selfie sensor and a 4,500 pixel sensor. mAh battery with support for 27W wired charging.
