Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro – Google’s next flagship smartphones – display specs have surfaced online, well ahead of the handsets’ launch later this year. The smartphones are supposed to feature the same screens as the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro which debuted last year. The company teased its next-gen handsets at the annual Google I/O developer conference earlier this month and revealed that they will be powered by an updated Tensor SoC and run Android 13 ready. use.
According to code from the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) spotted by 9to5Google, the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro will feature the same Samsung displays as the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, respectively. The Pixel 7 display driver which is codenamed Cheetah is labeled C10, while the Pixel 7 Pro driver which is codenamed Panther is labeled P10. Both files reveal specifications for upcoming handsets, according to the report.
Much like the Pixel 6, the upcoming Pixel 7 will sport a Full HD+ display (1080 x 2400 pixels) with a 90Hz refresh rate, as the code indicates using Samsung’s S6E3FC3 panel. While the screen specs remain the same, the screen is slightly smaller than the Pixel 6 – with a height and width reduced by 2mm and 1mm, respectively.
Meanwhile, the Pixel 7 Pro will feature the same QHD+ (1,440 x 3,120) pixel display with a 120Hz refresh rate – the same as the Pixel 6 Pro which launched in 2021, using the same panel Samsung S6E3HC3, according to Google driver code. Unlike the Pixel 7, the Pro model will feature the same screen size as its predecessor.
Pixel 7 Pro display drivers also suggest that the top-end model may offer users the ability to display content in 1080p mode through a recently spotted setting on Android 13. Although this reduces the viewing experience on the smartphone, it can help save battery life – a feature offered on other smartphones with high resolution screens. Meanwhile, Google has yet to officially reveal the full specs of the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro, ahead of their expected debuts later this year.
