Good Burger 2 is coming to Paramount Plus later this year

It’s official: Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell will be reuniting for a Good burger sequel slated to come to Paramount Plus later this year. The duo revealed the news during a segment on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon Friday night, noting that they will begin filming this summer.

Good burger 2 takes place in a current version of the fictional fast food restaurant of the same name, with Thompson reprising his role as Dexter Reed and Mitchell as Ed, the store’s hilariously oblivious cashier. Here is the official synopsis of the film:

Dexter Reed is out of luck after another of his inventions fails. Ed welcomes Dex to Good Burger with open arms and returns his old job. With a new team working at Good Burger, Dex hatches a plan to get back on his feet, but unfortunately puts Good Burger’s fate in jeopardy once again.

the original Good burger premiered in 1997 as a spin-off of the Good Burger sketch in All thatthe Nickelodeon comedy series that Thompson and Mitchell starred in. Judging by the movie’s description, it doesn’t look like anyone else from the original cast, like Linda Cardellini or Sinbad, will be returning for the sequel.

He will keep part of Good burgerHowever, original screenwriters Kevin Kopelow and Heath Seifert will serve as writers and executive producers on the sequel. Meanwhile, Phil Traill of The middle And Brooklyn nine-nine will lead.

This won’t be the first time Thompson and Mitchell have resumed their Good burger the roles. The two reunited during a sketch on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in 2015, and Mitchell took on the role of Ed in the short-lived All that reboot that premiered in 2019. Thompson and Mitchell strongly hinted at a Good burger sequel since then and teased the finished script last year.

“I can’t believe it’s been just over 25 years since great customer service was born at Good Burger!” Thompson said in a statement. “Being part of something so many generations of people have come to love has made me so proud and now to be back where it all started working on the sequel is surreal!”

As a fan of the original Good burger And All that, I have to say I’m excited about the reboot. I don’t know if this is something I’ll consider subscribing to Paramount Plus, especially since the service is increasing its prices soon, but I’ll wait for the first trailer until I make my decision. .
