Goal is to try and win every game to have a good season, says Emerson Palmieri

Newly signed West Ham United star Emerson Palmieri has confessed the club’s plan is clear and it’s an achievable goal for the Hammers which has attracted him to the team. The full-back added that he knows all about the London team due to their history and what they have achieved.

Despite signing for chelsea in January 2018, Emerson Palmieri played mostly a minor role for the club despite being part of their team that lifted the Champions League in the 2020/21 season. Yet despite this, the 28-year-old has only made 71 appearances over the past four years, a period which includes a season on loan at Olympique Lyonnais. However, it has seen Palmieri impress quite a few clubs and with Chelsea signing Marc Cucurella in the summer, he has seen the full-back linked with a move away.

But despite the interest of France and Italy, it was West Ham United who won the race with the Hammers signing the 28-year-old and tying him to a four-year deal. Many fans were blown away by Emerson choosing West Ham United but the Brazilian has refuted these claims. Instead, he revealed David Moyes has described the club’s ambitions and plans perfectly, and believes it is achievable.

“The plan is clear – to try to win every game and try to have a good season because I think that’s our level, the level of this team, and the club deserves it. The plan is as follows, that’s clear, and we have to try to achieve that,” Emerson told Whufc.com.

However, despite interest from Italy and France, Emerson revealed he was “very happy” to have signed for the club and believes it will be a big challenge for him. The full-back also added that he knows the club’s history and believes he is ready to start for the team if needed.

“I am very happy to be here and to arrive here. It’s a big challenge for me, it’s a big team, so I’m very happy to be here and I’m ready. Personally, from the first day I arrived here in England, I always see the big clubs and I always watched the big games and I know the history of West Ham

“History is so, so big for this team and of course [so are] the stadium and also the supporters of this Club, so when I heard about the interest, for the team and the Club, of course I said ‘Yes, let’s go, I want to go’ and I’m here now!” he added.
