Giuliani is now the target of the Trump probe in the Atlanta area, lawyer says

The Fulton DA’s office declined to comment on the development.

This development is the latest indication of the increasingly acute legal threats facing Trump and his key allies. As Trump has spent the past week under intense scrutiny for keeping boxes of highly classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago compound, federal investigators continue to probe his efforts to nullify the 2020 election, and prosecutors from the Atlanta area are doing the same, with a focus on his efforts to pressure Georgia officials to reverse his loss.

Last month, Willis also informed 16 Trump supporters and state GOP officials who had signed certificates claiming to be qualified presidential voters that they were also targets of the investigation. Giuliani was among Trump allies who led efforts in several states to nominate “alternate” presidential voters, part of an attempt to overturn the election when the process reached Congress on Jan. 6, 2021.

Earlier Monday, a federal judge in Georgia ruled that Sen. Lindsey Graham (RS.C.) could not quash a subpoena to testify before the grand jury, rejecting his claim that he was constitutionally immune from the demands of the investigators. Graham said he intends to appeal the decision.
