Trae Young was talked about on NBA Twitter on Wednesday night, as the Hawks star exploded to a career-high 48 points in the playoffs in Atlanta’s 116-113 win over Milwaukee. But did Young appreciate his impressive performance in the Eastern Conference finals a little too much?
No, he didn’t because the sport is meant to be fun, and a double NBA MVP seems to agree with that idea.

In the third quarter of Game 1, Young left Bucks goalie Jrue Holiday in the dust with a vicious left-to-right cross, putting him in a position to drain a wide-open 3-pointer. Before releasing the ball, however, Young decided to throw a little shimmy.
“I had a lot of time” Young said after the game. “I was a little tired, a little. So I had a small second to take a deep breath and bring it down.”
On the next break after Young’s shot, Giannis Antetokounmpo could be seen replicating Young’s shimmy move in front of his Bucks teammates, perhaps looking to inspire a better defensive effort.
When asked during his post-game media availability if he took the shimmy personally, Antetokounmpo, who totaled 34 points, 12 rebounds and nine assists in the loss, quickly swept him away and ( hopefully) prevented a stupid cycle of hot plugs.
“He’s just having fun. He enjoys the game,” Antetokounmpo said. “Obviously I wouldn’t want him to shoot, but he’s having fun. He enjoys the game. We are going to do the same as a team. We are going to have fun. We are going to enjoy the game. There will be times when Bryn [Forbes] or Jrue might shimmy or whatever the case. I could say mug.
“It’s just part of the game. It’s nothing. You can’t take it personally.”
Thanks Giannis. Let’s enjoy all the entertainment that Young provides and let’s get ready for Game 2.
