East Ham’s fourth summer signing is imminent, with Sassuolo publicly confirming a deal for Italian striker Gianluca Scamacca.
standard sports reported on Friday that the Hammers had agreed a fee worth £30.5m plus add-ons for Scamacca with personal terms not expected to be an issue.
The 23-year-old is set to follow Nayef Aguerd, Alphonse Areola and Flynn Downes to Stratford this summer as David Moyes finally looks to provide proper competition and support for Michail Antonio, who has operated as West’s only senior striker option Ham from the start. by Sébastien Haller in January 2021.
Wealth assistant Andriy Yarmolenko left the club after his contract expired last month and joined Abu Dhabi-based Al Ain.
West Ham are also seeking a deal for Albania international Armando Broja, but it remains to be seen if he will be allowed to leave Chelsea this summer.
Scamacca had previously been linked with Arsenal, who eventually strengthened their forward line with the £45m signing of prime target Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City.
The 23-year-old will still secure his Premier League move with West Ham and has been tipped for huge success in English football, having scored 16 times in 41 appearances for Sassuolo following a number of loan spells away from the Serie HAS.
He has also won seven senior international caps for Italy so far but has yet to be successful for the Azzurri.
“There is an agreement with West Ham for €36m plus an additional €6m and a 10% sell clause,” Sassuolo CEO Giovanni Carnevali told Corriere dello Sport.
“I’m sure he will do great things, he’s a huge talent and a very good guy.”
