ianluca Scamacca has revealed talks with David Moyes proved crucial in his decision to join West Ham.
The striker’s £30.5m transfer from Sassuolo was confirmed on Tuesday night as Moyes finally secured the forward-area addition to provide competition for Michail Antonio he clamored for in the recent transfer windows.
Scamacca scored 16 Serie A goals last season, a tally which resulted in a first international appearance for Italy, and the six-foot-five striker is hoping to carry that form to the Premier League.
Speaking after the move was made official, the 23-year-old revealed his enthusiasm for the chance to play in England and his belief that West Ham will prove to be a perfect match for him.
“I’m really delighted to join West Ham,” said Scamacca.
“I’ve been waiting for this moment for a long time – it was a dream to play in the Premier League.
“I feel like West Ham are the perfect team for me. They showed they really wanted me and when I spoke to the manager there was an instant understanding.
“I can’t wait to play and show the fans what I can do in the West Ham shirt – hopefully we like each other.”
