Germany to discuss possible purchase of Sputnik V vaccine with Russia – RT in english

German Health Minister Jens Spahn announced on April 8 that his country would initiate discussions with Russia with a view to a possible purchase of Sputnik V, if the anti-Covid vaccine is approved by European authorities .

“I explained on behalf of Germany to the Council of Health Ministers of the EU, that we would discuss bilaterally with Russia, first of all to know when and how much [de doses de Spoutnik V] could be delivered, ”said Jens Spahn, German Minister of Health, on April 8 on regional public radio WDR. As AFP reports, the minister justified this decision by affirming that the European Commission had chosen not to negotiate on behalf of the Twenty-Seven the purchase of the Sputnik V serum.

The day before, the regional leader of Bavaria, Markus Söderun, had announced the signing of a “preliminary contract” to receive doses of the Russian vaccine soon. The elected conservative, who belongs to Angela Merkel’s camp, added that “if Sputnik is approved in Europe, then the state of Bavaria will receive additional doses of vaccine”, numbering 2.5 million, by June.
