More than a million Ukrainian refugees have arrived in Germany since the beginning of the year and the number of asylum seekers from Iraq, Syria or Afghanistan is also increasing. In 2022, Germany has already welcomed more people than in 2015, at the height of the migration crisis. The capital, Berlin, alone currently hosts around 100,000 Ukrainian refugees, or as many as the whole of France.
