Germany’s Green Party, which is part of the country’s governing coalition, has confirmed that a cyberattack that hit its computer systems has affected email accounts belonging to Annalena Baerbock and Robert Habeck, who are government ministers.

Party co-leaders Omid Nouripour and Ricarda Lang were also among the victims of a hack in which some messages were transferred to external servers, German magazine Der Spiegel reported on Thursday, adding that the attack also affected the intranet computer system of the “Grüne Netz” party. where he exchanges confidential information.

But party leaders were not the only victims. “More than these email addresses are concerned. These are emails with the domain ‘@gruene.de’,” a party spokesperson told POLITICO on Friday.

On Saturday, the party confirmed that Foreign Minister Baerbock and Economy Minister Habeck were concerned, but said they had not used their accounts since January.

The affected email accounts were not fully infiltrated and the hackers did not have direct access, the party spokesman said on Friday.
