Things didn’t go well at the start of the second half as the visitors took the lead thanks to Esther Gonzalez’s clean finish.

Sarina Wiegman’s side, who were far from at their best, applied the pressure late in the second half and were rewarded late in the game when substitute Ella Toone fired from close range.

And the turnaround was complete in the sixth minute of the first extra period as Stanway’s piledriver flashed into the net.

The goal was so good that talkSPORT’s Lianne Sanderson injured herself in the process…

“What a goal, Georgia Stanway! Sat [Matterface]I actually stuck my shoulder blade out I think – just punched the air so hard in the celebration,” Sanderson said in a commentary for talkSPORT.

“What a goal from Georgia Stanway, absolutely brilliant.”

Stanway said after the match: “Unreal. It just shows the level we are at, we get a setback and we come back and do it. Job done and focus on the semis.

“It’s (the goal) to be proud of, I’ll remember today, we made a massive, massive change. We’re going to enjoy this moment and then crack.
