Georgia better hope Duce Robinson won’t delay signing day decision

Georgia appears in the lead for five-star tight end Duce Robinson, but if he delays his signing as rumor has it, the Bulldogs could be in danger of losing.
Most of college football’s top players have already signed during the window or signed on as National Signing Day approaches. Duce Robinson is an exception.
The five-star tight end from Phoenix, Ariz., is the highest-rated uncommitted player on the board. And he could stay on the board longer than expected.
Robinson is so uncertain about his college choice at this point that he may delay his signing beyond Wednesday, Blair Angulo of 247Sports reported Monday.
Angulo’s source said the tight end was “completely torn”.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if he didn’t sign,” the source said.
This is not good news for Georgia.
Georgia could lose advantage for Duce Robinson if he delays
Georgia is at an impasse with USC, along with other contenders like Alabama, Texas and Oregon. The 247Sports crystal ball strongly favors the Bulldogs.
The problem is the delay which would certainly complicate the recruitment of Robinson.
Bulldogs offensive coordinator Todd Monken is pursuing jobs in the NFL OC, including with the Ravens and Buccaneers. Ian Rapoport called him a ‘strong candidate’ for this latest job ahead of his interview on Tuesday.
If Georgia loses Monken to the NFL, that could be the push Robinson needs to reject the Bulldogs in favor of the Trojans, whose offensive coaching staff isn’t undergoing such a massive change. It would also give the Crimson Tide, Longhorns and Ducks time to push.
Robinson’s signing on Wednesday, as the Crystal Balls suggest, would mean a commitment to the Bulldogs regardless of the offensive coordinator in place. Delaying his signing could mean Monken’s decision would factor into Robinson’s pick. Then it would be totally up in the air.
