Georgia appeals court temporarily halts Trump’s 2020 election case in Fulton County

Appeals court to review Willis-Trump decision

Appeals court to review decision that kept prosecutor Fani Willis in Trump case

Washington- The Georgia Court of Appeals has temporarily suspended proceedings in the 2020 election case involving former President Donald Trump while it reviews a trial judge’s ruling that allowed the Fulton County prosecutor, Fani Willis, to pursue the case.

The court-ordered stay only applies to Trump and eight co-defendants who sought to have Willis and her office removed from the case because of an inappropriate relationship she had with Nathan Wade, who was a prosecutor special.

A panel of three judges from the court of appeal is provisionally ready to hear the arguments in the request for disqualification on October 4. The case is heard in August and a decision must be rendered by March 14, 2025.
